Hi everyone just joined today, I was looking for pictures of ships I had
sailed on, namely M. V. Bulk Eagle part of Gearbulk consortium crewed
by Buries Markes UK and the La Hacienda (1969) chemical tanker another
Buries Markes ship, photos of these ships are not so common, there was a
photo of the Bulk Eagle on a merchant navy website I looked at but I never
saved it, and now i cant find the website, it is an unusal bulk carrier self
discharging with two munk loaders folding arms swung out over the quay
the crane could be fitted with grabs or newsprint handlers and did not require
dockers except in the UK where you had to pay a full crew of dockers to
sit in the mess all day if they did not want to work overtime ship was not
allowed to carry on discharging, if the cargo was not finished by it was
cheaper to sail and discharge whats left over the side than pay overtime for dockers and port fees (Whaaa)
