My interest in ships comes from my father who was a merchant sea captain. He was on ships from 1947, and worked mainly with the shipping companies Headlams, Nesberts, Strick, Palm Line, Ropners and West Hartlepool Steam Navigation.

I sailed on the mv Apsleyhall belonging to West Harrlepoolsteam Navigation co. in 1968/69 and the chief officer was a Mr Feather.Your dad?

Hello and welcome to the site,I was over in the UK as were a few of us from Canada.On one of the ships that I sailed on the third mate was called Feather was it your father ,the ship was the Hurworth one of Ropners .we were on the bauxite run for Saguenay up to Port Alfred then on the shuttle to Trinidad in the winter months 1951/52 there were 2 Canadians on board myself and a guy called Beaver from Nova Scotia
