Harbour oiler

I am planning a diorama in 1/700 scale to depict a Grimsby class sloop receiving bunkers from a Creosol class harbour oiler, possibly in the River Foyle as many of the Grimsbys were based there.
At a base without an oiling jetty, was it the practice for the oiler to visit the receiving ship or would the oiler be moored and the receiving ship come alongside?
I would appreciate any information as to whereabouts the oil hose would be attached to top up the tanks on the sloop. Also whereabouts would the hose be on the tanker to deliver the oil?
Any comments or information most welcome.
