Hello Andy, welcome. My first ship was a trooper but that was the Dunera in 1956, a bit late perhaps but you might have come across her?
I was just 17 but even so a Radio Officer and it was a bit unnerving at times when I had to go down to the troops quarters with telegrammes, as I went in and out the guards would salute me! I did my best to return the salute having seen it done on the cinema in Hartlepool.....
