(Wave) I joined hoping to learn more about my grandfather, Gudmundur Johannsson. He immigrated from Iceland to Boston MA early 20's. He was the skipper of a fishing Trawler, The Medford. The Medford was struck and sunk by an Army transport vessel in October 1945. I was hoping to learn more about that. Thank you for your attention. Any information pertaining to my grand father is appreciated. If anyone has any suggestions on where I can do research, that is also appreciated!! Thanks.

My uncles trawler was run down in 1936 in similar curcumstances.

Greetings Albert and welcome to SN. Bon voyage.

Albert is a lady! And very welcome for being so, not enough around here!

The suffix "dottir" means daughter in Icelandic

They use Patronyms not Surnames in Iceland, so she is Albert's daughter.
