A small, odd artifact...

I picked up a small piece of history today from Battleship Iowa. Right at closing time a friend was cleaning up around the port side water tight door to the officer's wardroom, and knocked loose some flaking paint. What he handed me was a chip of this. It is several layers thick, and you can see where the area has been painted different colors over the years, but mostly haze grey or flat black. What is most interesting and historical is the colors nearest the bare metal...the really old stuff. What is now exposed in a small area about 3"x5" is an interesting medium-dark blue, like that shown on the pic of the model, paint from WWII camouflage. I have a chip about 1" x .5" that is going in my collection.
