I would be very interested to learn of any information such as further ships names, dates, photos or anecdote about any Shell or Eagle Oil tankers that were laid up in the River Blackwater in Essex.

I believe that this was primarily in the late 1950s and early 1960s with the Auris, Batissa, Diloma, Erodona, Etrema, Gadinia, Galeomma, Glessula, Helicina, Helisoma, Helix, Hyalina, Labiosa, Lampania, Latia, Latirus, Lembulus, Lepton, Limatula, Linga, Lingula, Liparus, Nacella, Naranio, Navicella, Neothyris, Neverita, Newcombia, Niso, Nuculana, Omala, Paludina, Tenagodus, Thalamus, and the Eagle Oil named San Eliseo, Leonardo, Leopoldo, Melito, Salvador, Silvestre, Velino, Veronico, Vito here and later in the 1980s Shell purchased the Eulima ex Martita and Eulota ex Liana when laid up.

Theer are some pictures of this and some further information on
http://www.merseamuseum.org.uk/mmshipping.php but further information eg of ships, dates, photos or recollections eg of how time was spent while the ships were laid up would be appreciated and acknowledged before memories of this period of history are lost.
