Got given a zippo today from a shipmate who is now an ex smoker.
it has RFA OAKLEAF on it , her ships crest , and the writing "WIGS TANKER 1994".
Anyone on here able to tell me what "WIGS" means? its just annoying me that i dont know lol.

Wigs = West Indies Guardship. Oakleaf being the West Indies "station" tanker in 1994.

Also when I was in the Antarctic in 1966-67, the story was that a USN guy dropped one out of a VX-6 Herky bird at x thousand feet when doing a re-supply drop to a field party on the Plateau. It was subsequently found and sent back for repair. It recovered. But they are/were nice lighters.
