Just found this forum... ex UK merchant navy 1960 - 1968...
Not long - but got married in '68 and new wifey didn't want me schoonering around the oceans and having shore leave where she couldn't keep an eye on me...
Ex Vindi Boy - Deck...
First ship was the grand old Queen Mary... Joined her in Southampton just before Christmas... Only lasted the one return trip and then signed off because I was scared of the ?girls? in the Pig and Whistle... (*))
Looking forward to some nostalgia here...
Thanks for having me...

You are very welcome Jedo.
Quite a few Vindi boys on here and also ex Cunarders.
Very likely you will meet some old shipmates.

Hi Jedo_03, A belated welcome to you.
I'm an ex Vindi Boy 1964. My first ship was the Queen Mary as well.
I must say that I never had any problems with the "Girls" As I recall the stewards had their own bar at the after end of the Working Alleyway, and the Crew Bar (Pig) was up the stairs on the poop deck. The Pig was a cold and draughty place because of all the fairleads and other berthing gear that was in there.
