I now realise that these years of being an engineer cadet, junior, 5th and 4th engineer were privileged ones within a world that was about to end and be taken over by containers. No longer would there be 8 week Kiwi coastals, or the fun of a week in port in BA on the Royal Mail Line re-named C boats (particularly the Cretic/Drina whose two Doxfords were wonderful machines). One would never go above 100 rpm whereas the other always would, made me think that the propellers can't have been a perfect pair!

Mick,

On behalf of the SN Moderators, a warm welcome aboard from the Isle of Anglesey - we guarantee you will thoroughly enjoy the SN experience!
You will certainly spark many happy memories when you have a chance to explore our threads and, who knows, you may even re-establish contact with old shipmates.
Good luck! (Thumb)

Greetings "Pongo",
whilst looking for photos of The Drina and its Doxford Racing Team of 1977, came accross the post.

Ps The Drina still sails now as an RC model.

Perks of the Deepsea third Mate (4 plans under my bunk)
and they were selling her.

Greetings Ken

How about posting some pictures of Cretic/Drina? I sailed on her as a young engineer in 69-71 and would love to see your model.
