Hello forum,I never was in the merchant or indeed any type of shipping but I do have a respect for all who sailed the oceans.I do have a boat( again) only 26 foot and it does me !Included is a picture took long ago about 1962 in Aden.Perhaps someone out there can identify what ship this is?

Looks like Shaw Saville ship outward or homeward from Australia .
Just a thought she might be the old Taranaki regards.

Its from a slide and had to be cleaned up as all my 50year old slides have had to be!Aden was interesting for shipping although back then 35 mm film was not high on my priorities list!!

Possibly the Waimarama. There's a similar photo in our gallery. Hope this helps.

Comparing the two sterns, the second ship has a cruiser stern, whereas the first appears to have an overhang ? Don't know anything about Shaw Swivell to make a guess !

Several differences. Wooden wheelhouse, crows nest, radar for starters. (Thumb)

Both ships certainly have a Shaw Saville look about them.
