Hi.
I'm interested in information on Bullard King's ss Umtali. My Uncle Captain F.O'Hea was master for many years. I know she passed to Elder Dempster as "Calabar". Captain O'Hea transferred to the Clan Line following the merger into British & Commonwealth.

Hello,
Captain O'Hay got my mother and Grandmother out of Antwerp during war. The Captain and Mrs O'Hay became firm friends and I've just found photos of them with my grandparents in 1965..

I mind seeing an old (C 1920s) steamer called the " Umtata "laid up in Durban in 1959.

Same company ?

From my days as an apprentice in the Royal Docks in the 40s and early 50s all I can remember about Bullard and Kings ships was that the had huge funnels for their size, I was told the were like that to impress the African Shppers
