Demis Roussos

The Kaftan King, apparently his death in Athens on Sunday January 25, 2015 has now been confirmed: the singer best known for his hits Quand je t'aime, Forever And Ever or Goodbye My Love, Goodbye died at 68.

Roussos was born and raised in Alexandria, Egypt, in a family where his father George (engineer Yorgos Roussos) was Greek and mother Nelly Mazloum was Egyptian of Italian origin. His parents lost their possessions during the Suez Crisis and consequently decided to move to Greece. -

I always enjoyed his music.

Perhaps a lesser known track by Aphrodite's Child (unless you were an RNI listener) is: His friend and former Bandmate, Vangelis wrote a moving tribute signing off with "Goodbye my friend goodbye. Love Vangelis." from this song.

In 1975 ,the Greek 3rd mate in the cabin next door on the Nicola only had one cassette - ' Forever and Ever'. I became very familiar with the album.
