There must have been a whole company making those wheelhouse doors for the ship yards ... standard pattern, standard door catches and any ship I have been on with them ...they all leaked water and wind plus were a deadweight to slide back and forth.

I remember quite a number of crew members got married in Manila. Some brought their wives to the Uk. Often wonder if they are still around

Just read a book by a Ben Line Man. Very interesting. Was it usual to have a Captain. Chf Officer, 1st Officer, 2nd Officer, 3rd Officer and up to four cadets on each of the conventional ships?

I think that was near the mark on the more traditional Ben Line Cargo Liners....this particular Benrinnes was a one-off for BenLine (feeder container) and not a lot bigger than a coaster ( she had been the Neptune Fisher before Ben Line bought her). There were no cadets.
