Just wondering if Normandie ever came into Southampton. Something tells me that she came into Spithead but not Southampton. No doubt someone will be able to advise me if my thoughts are right or not.

"Normandie" usually anchored off Cowes, with passenger transfer by tender. Painting shows SR paddler alongside ("Southsea" or "Whippingham") but Red Funnel vessels from Southampton also employed.

Was there a reason why she usually anchored and didn't dock like the others? Did she ever come in?

Apparently never docked at Southampton. Route eastbound was Le Havre, Southampton, New York. To dock would have increased passage time for Le Havre passengers and made her less competitive with "Queen Mary" which ran Southampton, Cherbourg, New York. Cherbourg was easier to access allowing QM a quick call (about 4 hours) though tenders used on occasions there as well (including "Ingenieur Minard" ex White Star "Nomadic")
