Thanks Eddyw for the video link.
Whilst the YMs and I enjoyed our trip on the PS Dresden I was a little disappointed from the 'steam perspective'.
I realise only too well that times change and that technological improvements are essential to keep these vessels operating so far as both cost and qualified/experienced crew availability perspectives are concerned.
I found PS Dresden a little too clinical with no 'hot oil and steam atmosphere'. The overall steam impression was that the engine could well have been driven via a fan belt from a hidden washing machine motor - but far better than nothing I admit.
The whistle was the only real evidence of steam at all.
