Speaks volumes but will leave SJC to fill in the 'finer detail'.

One of the finest watercolourists... Carl Evers! He made several covers of Tow Line, house magazine of Moran Towing. When colour came around they commissioned French artist Albert Brenet to make the covers of Tow Line. He must have done thirty (about). I saw a lot of the originals at Moran headquarters. Huge paintings and most in gouache. In those days all you had to do was send a letter to Moran and they would send a reproduction of the cover painting, without the printing. I still have several. All subjects were New York scenes and also a Moran tug. Some liners, some cargo boats etc.
One of the reason of the fine artwork and the work of the magazine were the work of famous maritime author Frank Braynard. Frank was the editor for many years. Later, Francis Duffy became later editor and he was well known for his photography of New York shipping.

NB artist is Carl G. Evers, not Charles G. Evers.

If you want to spend a few hours, google 'Carl Evers art'... well worth the time. Beautiful works!

Sorry Stephen, I took the attribution from the inside cover of the magazine which called him Charles ... ... I will correct.

Name duly noted for future googling Stephen and thanks for the info. In exchange and if you haven't already done so, google my lovely American friend Marilyn Wear Artist and check out her turtles ~ NOT being rude! I call her 'Turtillian' because all are painted from photos she takes herself snorkelling in Hawaii, a WC, V for Victory approach which shows in the intricate turtle features.
