Thanks for the memories, although mine commence a quarter century later. Usual anodes about composition and outcome.

I knew the Cruise Director Bob Smith in the Morro Castle when she burned in 1843. I knew him the late 1960s when he was Cruise Director in the NIEUW AMSTERDAM. Went on board for lunch and he told me the story of the fire. He told me, "The Radio Officer did it!" Bob was CD in the Nw AMSTERDAM from 1938 to 1974 (apart from the war years).

Thanks Graham.

Stephen

Stephen

Evocative views from Staten Island Terminal about this "Cuban". Great ship with sad history. Splendid painting once again. Specially all distances and perspectives.

Best

Stepehn,
Beautiful narrative scenery with the morro castle. I do not ever remember having seen a professional and such a poetic oil painting of the Morro Castle.
I know two oil paintings of antonio de simone. But he painted the predecessor respectively the morro castle of 1900.
Your picture has a rich color palette. Rich in details with a fine impressionistic touch.
Simply great!

What is this iron metal belfry in the foreground with built on a pier? Never seen before ...
for signalization?

Hi Emil.

Trust you and yours enjoyed your Easter and had comparable weather to us, here in the UK?

Your comment to Stephen can, I think, be answered in part by Edgar Hodge's comment on his painting of my old ship 'Obuast' ~ see SN link ~ the original of which hangs in my 'personal' ship's gallery.

Kindest. GGG
