Another one of my favourite long distance cruise ferries Derek the Tor Scandinavia.

The beautiful former Tor Line twins Tor Britannia and Tor Scandinavia along with the two Aznar Line twins Monte Granada and Monte Toledo are my all time favourites with the former Olau twins Olau Britannia (1) and Olau Hollandia (2) following them.

Do have anymore interior photos of the Tor Scandinavia and in particular the pool area?

I just so wished that I took photos similar to yourself Derek, wasted opportunities but then I didn't have a very good camera back then anyway, I'm personally so pleased that you always had your camera in hand :-)

The ferries from that era were game changers especially the long distance Baltic and North sea ferries and they we're great to travel on.

Did you ever travel on Fred Olsen's Blenhiem or the Black Prince (Jupiter), Black Watch (Venus), if so do you have any similar photos Derek?

I know that I may be asking too much of you Derek but you always seem to come up trump's with your outstanding photo collection.

Regards

Sean

Hello Sean

Thanks for your comments. Somewhere I have several more interior and deck photos from Tor Scandinavia which I will endeavour to find - may take a while though. So far as the earlier 1960's editions of Black Watch and Black Prince, there are a number of interiors from the former posted in my gallery on 15th February 2015 and I may have more, again I will have to search. Beyond that there are a couple taken on Black Prince when as a cruise ship and I definitely have several more from that period that I will try to find. Several of my shots of those two and Blenheim, externally, are also posted on various dates.

I found the Tor Scandinavia very impressive, especially how well she rode some pretty heavy seas during my trip on her to Gothenburg and back. Again you will find some of my exterior and deck scenes are already posted on SN.

My personal favourite of these long distance ferries was Dana Regina which really did have more of an atmosphere of being a liner than a ferry. I did a couple of return trips to Esbjerg on her and one or two of my photos from then are on site both 'life on board, and external views.

I never had a very expensive camera starting out with a Kodak box Brownie in the early '50s then a series of old second hand ones till I bought a Pentax in the Far East, which was what I used for most of my photos until getting the cheap digital one that I still have now.

It is great to know that my pictures, most of which are now almost historical, are enjoyed and I will keep posting from time to time as when I find others.

All the best, Derek
