Derek, it looks like there were some German passengers onboard, (banner writing in German).

Frank - I am not sure whether she was under charter to Bayerns Flotte but certainly she was carrying many German passengers. Derek

Derek

Great set of photos of Epirotiki Lines ATLAS at the Port of Southampton.

I saw her several times in Southampton during 1974/75. In 1974 she was chartered to several German tour operators such as Bayerns Flotte and operated out of Bremerhaven.

In the summer of 1975 the ATLAS was based out of Port of Southampton for the British cruise market and she undertook 12 cruises from the port which took her to northern Europe and the Norwegian fjords as well as to the Iberian peninsula and the Canary Islands. I have the brochure covering her cruises for 1975.

You do amaze me Derek with your superb collection of photos and the ships that you have travelled on. Just when we think that you have exhausted yourself with your photo collection you come along with some rare gems such as these.

I look forward to seeing what else you find in that huge photo collection hidden away in your attic Derek 😀

Regards

Sean

Hi Sean: Good to hear from you again. Thanks for your kind comments. I am still digging into my collection but scanning is a slow process as I can only scan four slides at a time. They then have to be cleaned of dust/scratches etc before I submit them. Have done several more recently so its a case of 'watch this space.' Am still to get the QE2 book out but it isn't forgotten. Derek

Many thanks Derek, no immediate rush for the QE2 book as long as you find gems such as these along the way.

Hope that your well.

Regards

Sean
