The river passenger ship CIUDAD DE ASUNCION maintained a regular service between Montevideo and Buenos Aires. She caught fire and sank on the Rio de la Plata on 11th July 1963. She collided with an submerged wreck. 52 casualties. The captain and pilot were blamed for the disaster and were sentenced to 2 years in jail.
