As part of the Damen Shipyards Group – which consists of 40 shipyards around the world – Amels manages the sales and marketing of the Damen-built axe-bow support vessels. The second 67m Sea Axe, 6711 was launched in November 2013. She is due for delivery later this month in January 2014, ahead of schedule.
The Sea Axe yacht has a grey hull and white superstructure and has been faired and painted to superyacht standards. She accommodates up to 21 staff and crew members. 6711 boasts 275 square metres of deck space, excluding her fully certified helipad, and she has a 74 square metre garage and workshop. She has been fully specified with a focus on diving and features an extensive 74 square metre dive centre, which include a decompression chamber. Powered by four MTU 16V 4000 engines, she has a range of 4,500 nautical miles at 16 Knoten.
‘We are seeing an increasing number of superyacht owners appreciate the benefits of a well-equipped support vessel customised to their particular requirements,’ says Rob Luijendijk from Amels, ‘This is why we are developing even larger options up to ninety metres in length. Damen has already delivered three yacht support vessels and has another four under construction.’
The 67m is the flagship of the Sea Axe range. The 50.3m Sea Axe 5009 Umbra sold October 2013, and a smaller 37.7m Sea Axe 3707 design is on offer.
The highly exclusive Fast Support Vessel 6711 was engineered and built by Damen shipyard, a specialist in utility and defence craft, specifically to fulfil these needs when escorting a luxury superyacht. Her sweeping lines and imposing profile are an expression of purposefulness and speed – and clear indications of her military pedigree. The 67-metre craft cruises at 13.5 Knoten, mit einer Spitzengeschwindigkeit von 21 Knoten. At cruising speed, she boasts a range 8,720 nautical miles. She meets military demands in efficiency and precision, with advanced equipment and technology on board.
A high-powered crane situated amidships enables the crew to launch and retrieve tenders or other watersports gear swiftly and safely.
The Fast Support Vessel 6711 is designed to accommodate a wide array of recreational vessels and equipment – she can be outfitted for speed boats and jet skis, scuba gear and even a submarine if desired. The ship’s dive centre features a decompression chamber, and of course she is equipped with a helipad. Her interior, designed by Damen, embodies efficiency down the smallest detail. At the same time, the living quarters, mess and training room for the crew, fitted by the award-winning Mark Berryman, offer outstanding comfort and entertainment features. Needless to say, the galley is a state-of-the-art professional kitchen.
The commitment to uncompromising efficiency and precise performance is also reflected in the Captain and crew. Trained to military standards, these 22 highly experienced professionals have the skills and knowledge to ensure safe, secure and convenient operation of the on-board water toys as well as the escorted yacht and passengers. Enter a new dimension of adventure, exclusivity and peace of mind with the Fast Support Vessel 6711 at your service.
With her bold, angular contours, the Fast Support Vessel 6711 exudes strength and dominance. Her superior speed, range and manoeuvrability enable her to perform tasks with exceptional efficiency.
The Fast Support Vessel 6711 will participate in the Monaco yacht show 2017 27-30 sep.
