Maybe we will see her again next year, before she's taken out of service.

Fred,
Still some life in her yet. This site gives details of a 2009 cruise with the itinerary name of Irish Jig.

Hi Ted,
Not as yet. Most cruise vessels berth on the south end of Stormont Wharf. The smaller ones sometimes berth in Pollock Dock - where Black Prince is headed in above shot. Only one ship to my knowledge has berthed at the Ship Repair Quay on Queen's Island.
There are / were plans to locate a terminal in the area between Victoria and Alexandra Wharves on Queen's Island.
Cheers, Alan.

What is the ship going to be doing until she starts her 2009 cruises? Is she due to go to scrap when she is taken out of service next year?
It'll be a sad day when she goes, she's looks like a ship, unlike most of the modern cruise vessels

Graham,
Seems she will be fully occupied from now until a decision is made about her future.

Alan
Thank you for that information and link, I remember her in the 1970's when I used to travel on the Reina Del Mar. I remember the Fred Olsen ships were also thought of as very friendly ships by the passengers.

I worked on her in the late 60's when she was the Venus/Black Prince sailing between the Tyne, Norway, Amsterdam and the Canaries, I was the only Englishman in the crew, she was a very happy ship and very popular with the passengers, she sailed under the DBDS houseflag as Venus and Fred Olsen as Black Prince, she will be sadly missed when she 'retires' in 2010, hopefully she will not go to the breakers.
Regards, Steve.

Steve,
Many thanks for your post. It made me think that she may have visited Belfast during the 1960s, possibly as the Venus.
Perhaps someone can provide an answer.
Regards, Alan.

Hi Alan,
She may have done as her schedule was not as strict as it should have been, durind my time the summer schedule was a regular routine, England/Norway/Holland but winter sailings varied quite a bit, when running for 'Fred' we did a few one off ports.
Regards, Steve.

Thanks Steve.
I have vague memories of her, or a similarly-sized vessel, berthed in Pollock Basin. Unfortunately I didn't take a photo.
Regards, Alan.
