Built in 1955 by Wm Denny at Dumbarton the 6481 grt turbine steamer Margaret Bowater. Sold in 1969 renamed John W Hill under Liberian flag. Sold in 1983 to Turkish owners, renamed Naz K
Further fate unknown.

Thanks for your kind words. It is sad that the days of a busy shipping scene on the Clyde is just a memory - Visiting Braehead Shopping Centre would have been heaven for ship lovers had it been in existance instead of a power station in the 1950's to 1970's.
As you say one could wander around the various docks and no one would bother you. Now where there is still some shipping traffic docks are closed to visitors for "Health & Safety" or "Anti-terrorist" reasons.

Jim, My 1995 LLoyds shows the Naz K as being the ex.Phyllis Bowater built 1960. Taken over by the Turks 1983. Could be an error on the part of Lloyds. A beautiful picture of the Margaret. Colin
