5780 grt turbine steamer built by Wm Denny, Dumbarton in 1950 for "Paddy" Henderson's UK-Burma trade. She was sold to Chinese owners in !964. renamed Hai Ho. Sold in 1971 to Taiwan breakers but reprieved and resold for further trading as Ken Ho.
Finally broken up at Kaohsiung in 1974. She and her 1948 sister Yoma unusually for this type of ship had extensive steam auxiliary machinery including turbine driven boiler forced draught fans and turbine driven condenser sea water circulating pump. They probably had the gloomiest engine rooms I have ever seen - everything was painted dark grey. Martaban was probably the cl;eaner of the two. Picture taken Princes Dock, Glasgow. Note the dockside crane - if I remember right these were very old hydraulic cranes that leaked water on the unsuspecting.

Traded as KEN HO until 5th May 1975 when she was sold to Universal Steel Enterprises Ltd and sailed from Singapore Roads for Kaohsiung where demolition work commenced 21st July.
Although acquired by Elder Dempster, 30th January 1952, with the purchase of Paddy Hendersons, she never traded on the West African service.
