Tanker, nice picture. She was sold in 1983 to Armatoriale Orseolo S. p. A. and renamed as you rightly say. 26.12.1991 she suffered heavey weather damage while outward from Augusta and put back. 21.1.92 she arrived at Izola for repairs. In May of that year she was arrested while still in Izola for alledged unpaid bills. Sold on to Armatoriale Orio S. p. A. in 1992. Sold for demolition in 1994. 20,638 dwt.

Didn't realise that she had been in a collision while she was owned by BP. Christmas Eve, 1973 she collided with the the Teviot, 694 gt, off Newarp/Cross Sand Light vessel. Don't know if there were any casualties or who was to blame.
Regards,
John

SEEMS THE BRITISH FERN HAD AN UNHAPPY LIFE.
AS FOR MY EXPERIENCE ON HER DURING 1965/66 AS THE SPARKIE, FIRSTLY RECEIVED A TELEGRAM WHILE ON THE AUSSIE COAST THAT MY FATHER HAD DIED,

THEN AFTER BEEN OUT FOR 8MONTHS COMING DOWN THE RIVER FROM ABADAN RAN AGROUND,EVENTUALLY A TUG CAME UP FROM ADEN AND GOT US OFF.
AND FINALLY I BECAME ILL WITH ULCERATIVE COLITIS AND LOST MY JOB WITH BP BECAUSE OF IT.
HOWEVER , THIS TURNED OUT TO BE A BLESSING IN DISGUISE,

ASHORE, HAVE HAD A LONG CAREER ENGINEERING AND JUST RETIRED RECENTLY.

GOING TO SEA WAS GOOD WHILE YOUNG BUT BY 26 THE NOVELTY BEGAN TO FADE FOR ME,MAINLY BECAUSE JOB HAD ITS LIMITATIONS,AND SOCIALLY FELT A BIT "OUT OF IT"
