The name of the kit escapes me at present but I believe the panels that look like solar panels, are in fact, sonar transducers.
It does look a bit like Skye in the background but don't think so as I can't see a Trident boat being surfaced around that area, unless on some trials.

the new Astute has side sonar, but it is fitted more in with the hull lines than those

the boat is sailing from the Gareloch. The panels on the casing are, I understand, protection for missile tubes.

Wouldn't have thought they are to protect the missile tubes, there are tubes further for'ard than they extend and the tubes are internal to the pressure hull as well, except for a very small portion.
