The beautifully preserved TURBINIA, the fastest vessel in the world when she was built in 1894 at Wallsend on Tyne to a design by Charles Parsons, capable of over 34 knots with her three ahead turbines driving three shafts, each carryin g three propellers. Now on exhibition at the Discovery Museum in Newcastle - and well worthy of a visit.
