Built in 1960 by Hawthorn Leslie (Shipbuilders) Limited for W. Runcimann and Company's Moor Line. 5,923 GRT motorship.



G and J Weir of Glasgow were Manufacturers of some of the on-board auxiliary plant and systems. The photo was rescued from old Company archives that were being disposed of some 20 years ago. (Identity of the original photographer unknown)

Worked on fitting out in Leslies as apprentice Electrician. Maybe one of the last 'split accomodation' ships built?

I was on her in July 1963, and in Cuba during the Cuba incident, it would be great to hear from any of the crew. The old man was Cpt Hellings. -Mick Tiger
