Akranes was the first J Marr and son trawler to fish from Fleetwood in 1900 when he split from the Marr family and moved to Fleetwood from Hull.she was a bridge aft side and fished as far afield as Iceland! finishes this evening the model is scratch built at 1:32 scale and is 47" long.

Is that the same trawler which went ashore near St John's Point in Caithness on 8th July 1931. Her crew of 14 were taken off by Thurso lifeboat H.C.J.

I'm sorry I don't have any history of her.but quite possibly. ( not being Libelous) but Fleetwood trawlers had a habit of running aground,even going down the river wyre so I would say quite possibly yes.

No, the Akrannes GY 155 that went ashore at Mey Caithness had her funnel aft of the bridge.

24.2.1899: Launched by Edwards Bros, North Shields (Yd.No.608) for Fiskeri-aktieselskabet Isafold (Isafold Fishing Co Ltd), Reykjavik, Iceland as Akranes. 4.1899: Completed. Registered at Reykjavik (RV1). 1901: Sold to James Herbert Marr, Hull. Registered Newcastle (NE9). Fishing from Fleetwood. 29.5.1902: Transferred to the newly formed company J. Marr & Son Ltd, Fleetwood. 28.2.1905: Registered at Fleetwood (FD33). 11.3.1912: Sk. John Henry Bentley fined 20 at Bodmin Petty Sessions for fishing within the 3 mile limit. 6.1915: Requisitioned for war service and converted for boom defence duties (Ad.No.NA). 10.1918: Sold to E. J. Baskcomb, Grimsby. 12.10.1918: Fleetwood registry closed. 10.1918: Registered at Grimsby (GY1219). 1919: Returned. 10.1920: Sold to Edward Baxter, Grimsby. 2.1923: Sold to E. J. Baskcomb, Grimsby. 5.1928: Sold to Baskcomb & Northcote Ltd, Grimsby. 8.1929: Sold to N.V. Stoomviss Maats Anna Josina, Ymuiden. Renamed Anna Josina (IJM169). 1936: Sold for demolition.
