There has been some question regarding the "spare" anchor on Titanic, hopefully this extract from the White Star Line technical specification will answer the question fully.

With respect, this style of wording does not appear to be from any ship/outfit specification I have seen! I would be grateful if you would see my comments in the relevant Ship Research section of the SN Forum

This extract was taken from the official White Star publication announcing the entry into service and the technical description of the Olympic class vessels. This document was intended for the general public and therefore the language used reflects this however the facts published remain the same whatever "language" is used.
