Bigger, but does not have as good a layout as her 1964 predecessor which had midships accommodation.

GEESTBAY and her sister GEESTPORT were great looking ships. They could take 12 passengers and were true cargo passenger ships

I sailed on her three times and her sister ship the Geest Port twice back in the early Nineties. They were beautiful - went on a newly built container ship not long after I left the Geest Line and it was totally ugly in comparison. You might be right about the design JET. I remember these ships had the galley on a lower deck to the restaurant, which made serving meals really impractical! They had a dumb waiter going up between decks, which might seem like a fine idea to a shore-side designer, but which is a total nightmare if you're trying to serve anything soggier than biscuits and bread in the middle of the Atlantic hurricane season!! I actually had to be lowered down on top of the dumb waiter to clean the lift-shaft - it was full of roaches, broken glass and ancient rotting spilt stuff. Still love the old girl though, even if she was beautiful AND dirty ; D
