American Civil War 1861-1865

The life blood for Confederacy (South) was supplies delivered by ships mostly from Bermuda and Nassau for cotton in exchange. Federal ships placed blockade harbors of South. Chain of ships hunting cargo ships. With time whole supply operation changed to blockade running. Fast ships “blockade runner” build in England mostly shallow draft less than 7 feet no more than 1000 tons, low profile and high speed paddle wheelers.
Some of them run more than 20 knots. On painting blockade runner “General Lee” cutting through lines of federal blockade around of Wilmington NC. Last in chain od federal ships is “Santiago De Cuba”, raising anchor, frantically rising steam and managing to spin around anchor chain to fire on passing runner and ....booooom. Other federal ships firing rockets marking way of runner. This is the moment. Blockade running was better in stories than any Wild Western movie.

It's war, people trying to kill each other, but it looks beautiful anyway.
