Lovely photos, Buggins.
Getting so used to seeing the latest generation about to leave for the scrapyard.
Nice to see these pix from a previous era, and no doubt the comments about their demise would have been very similar to nowadays.

regards, Donald

Amazing image! The amount of tonnage laid up in the creek in this view makes today's disposal list look minor!!

Trouble is, there are very few ships left to de-commission. In the 1960s there were far more to go to the scrapyard, but the fleet was much larger, so in proportion, the ships in the trots today are greater in ratio compared to the past fleet lined up in the picture.

Another great shot, Buggins. Looks like Crane nearest camera, with Captain "Johnny" Walker's old ship, Starling alongside. Type 15 Frigate is most likely, I think, Rocket. Although, Undine may have been on the trots at that time, I seem to remember. Havn't a clue as to the LST.
Regards, Ken H.

Possibly Narvik? When taking into account the size of the Fleet at that time the ships laid up in Reserve in other Port's need to be counted in. There was a rush to break up vessel's under the BISCO scheme which ended in the early 1960's.
