I seem to recall the Seaham Lifeboat capsizing in November 1962, sadly with the loss of some or all of the crew.

You are correct, sadly all the crew and four fishermen (inc a 9 year old boy) were lost. This is the same boat, she was repaired and put in reserve fleet by RNLI. Sold out in 1971, she was mainly used as fishing boat (we are still trying to trace all her history).
A heritage group from Seaham bought her in 2009 and she has been restored and will go on display in Seaham Docks as memorial to those who were lost.

She looked good in Fred's shed, but even better on the water - been watching the video's on youtube - what an amazing restoration job - all credit to all involved.
Hope to see her later on in the year when she goes on display.
