This company was Norwegian owned but had something to do with Westons. They had a small fleet of these mini bulkers which were quite smart little ships 2300tonnes dwt. We all had our own shower/toilet even in those days. The company didn't last too long though. I remember carrying coal and then maize from Bayonne to Dublin. Good payers in those days!

Frendo London Ltd were managers for G.W.H. Shipping Ltd - but what does gwh stand for? Does the "W" stand for Westons?????

good photo gadgee i believe they also had several smaller coasters or were having them, which later became Bulk moon,star,sea,sun

you see in the picture how the ship's side hull plating protudes outwards where the gangway is - good for dunking pilot boats in a swell when loaded - totally daft and dangerous

Probably a design similar to the clinker principle to reduce rolling and improve stability in a seaway - taking on the pilot didn't enter the equation unfortunately!
