A pic for David Shepherd Flyer682 in NZ. August 1974 and we are loading emery stone in Gullick, Western Turkey for River Thames.Called next at Valletta
where we covered the hatches with empty containers also for London. The chap in the orange shirt talking to shore staff is C/O Bob Joughin who I believe now lectures in sea survival at Warsash College, Southampton

Thanks for that, Paul. I have looked in various atlas and unable to find Gullick. It would appear that is only a small place with just the one jetty?
Did you fill the holds completely with this stone? If so, it must have been a slow job.

David
Sorry cannot remember about the emery stone quantity - I do remember the quantities of ouzo consumed and the hangover! Gullick is between Marmaris and Izmir close to Bodrum if you did not find it. There is a Gullick Bay.

There's a name from the past!! Bob Joughin. I was at Warsash in the eighties, and I'm sure he was there then - wasn't he?

That's ok. It'll come to me eventually. I remember him from somewhere.
