Thanks for that Dick. Stan the man (RIP) was a drinking partner of mine, never sailed with him though. What a character and very good with the old palm & needle.

Alec.

Hi Dick,

Nice shot, I first met Stan back in 1968 when he joined the Railway Steamer the SS Dover for the summer season. He was a great Character even back then, their was a crowd of them that used to come down to Dover every summer, most of them from KG5. They were a good bunch of seaman like Bill Jennings (Mr Mudu), Jimmy Wonga, Stan and many more and always certinaly made the season very memorable. Towards the end of August the Loydds List would begin to appear in their cabins and they would be circling the ships in the expected section and always seemed to get the jobs they wanted, and by the first week in September they were gone and steaming to warmer climes. Stan if I remember rightly was a Port Line man and had also been Chippy with them. His proper name was Stan O'cedar and as you say Alec he was a good Seaman. They all used to stay over in Ramsgate and Margate and I can remember having some good sessions over their with them. Stan used to Drink in a pub just off the bottom of the high street and he could see who was passing, and if he spotted you he would rush out and drag you in wether you wanted a beer or not. lol.
Nobby looks very smart in his Bosun's uniform, another good bloke, had a few sessions with him back in the early seventies when he used to ship out with the Cockney Brothers Dale and Alan Eden. If I remember rightly Dale was on the Ceasarea with you and Nobby at that time. Great Shots Dick, I've got loads to post yet, just getting the time.

Best Regards

Yuge

Mr Brightside It is Caesarea' .....I came across this ship in Hong Kong when they sold her' and she had been painted all white and her name was changed to AESAREA or was it ESAREA.
