Think maybe 23knots maximum, she looks like a 'Super Core'
Norwegian design? Blue Star had six built as 'Afric Star Class'

'Queen Class' vessel. Formerly 'Gladiola'. Brought from British flag remains of Maritime Fruit carriers in 1976 by Cunard, along with sisters 'Iris Queen' (Scythia), 'Orchidea' (Servia) and 'Chrysantema' (Samaria). Rated at 24 knots but service speed was 21.
Were regarded as 'top ships' in IFR fleet - Chrysantema was a dot on the horizon after leaving Colon for Europe via Monas Passage when we (Glasgow Clipper - a 'lowlife' tatty Clipper ship) exited Colon Breakwater. Despite their engineers best efforts, they were a bit 'miffed' when we asked if they wanted a tow as we overtook them.

Dennis.

Good information there' Dennis...I was a bit out on the speed' but the Captain we had' use to push her to the limit'(Captain Knight) there is a sad picture of these ships layed up in Liverpool in the 1980s a real shame'.

I sailed on her when she was the Gladiola. Sailed from Southampton with cars for Benim and then light ship to Panama-and duly got arrested. Lovely looking ship but not a happy one as we knew quite early after leaving Benim that IFR was in financial bother.Ended up coming home to be laid up in the River Blackwater in Essex
