Are they not white leading the yard arm stays? Or is the Guy on the portside holding a gasket to get himself where he is? Great nostalgic shot though!! No job & Knock on this fine Lady, I bet?

No Pat, this is a paint job. They're all slapping on a coat of Blue Funnel mast colour. The one on the starboard yard-arm doesn't appear to have
a safety line attached. The one at the masthead is bent right over, you can just make out his head. They were a great crowd. Many of them would have known what it was like to have to take to the boats. When I joined the Blue Funnel Line in 1943 they had just lost their 50th ship, nearly all to U.Boats.
