The tall funnels and extended bridgework distinguish this shot of the Rangitiki (taken in Wellington, NZ) to be on her 1929 Maiden Voyage configuration. Modifications were made after her return to England from Voyage 1.

Hello, Hugh ~ although somewhat faded when I bought the picture, it still is sharp image. It must have been a gorgeous print when new some 77 years ago.

Rangitiki, launched by John Brown, Clydebank 29/08/1928 and delivered to NZSCo on 31/01/1929. 16,697 tons.
Twin screw, 2 x 5 cyl. Sulzer diesels by the builders. 9,300 bhp, 15 kts. Re-engined 1948 2 x 6 cyl Doxford diesels, 15,000 bhp, 16 kts. Refrigerated space 416,400 c.f.R.
26/07/1962 sold to the Cia. Esponola de Demolicion Naval S.A., Madrid and arrived on 26/07/1962.
