Another view of the Radisson Diamond, from a Finnyards publicity shot of 1992. Finnyards were very enthusiastic about the SWATH (small waterplane area, twin hull) concept. Very few ships of this type have been built, mostly oceanographic survey ships, their main advantage being good stability at slow speeds. In the comments to Willie Calder's recent post of this ship it was said that she is slow, but we did not mention how slow. Her service speed is 12.5 knots.

I saw her in Hong Kong last year, looks quite superb still. Such a shame she wasn't able to stay with RSSC. She was very popular with passengers, very stable and very well appointed.
