My first ship 1956/57.as a junior engineer. It was on a good run to the west coast USA
and Vancouver via Panama canal.Engine room was good but the boiler casings leaked a sooty dust over everything. They were Yarrow boilers and should have been in a pressurised boiler room. The chief (Boag-Jones) was a snooty so and so who wouldn't speak to junior engineers but everyone else was great.Quite a lot of Scots engineers, as the voyages started from Glasgow.
