Was she not stationed in Stornoway Harbour in about 1959 . I remember the ship was there but name I forget .

Not sure about that Ron. These and the Ocean Weather boats were usually in the James Watt Dock Greenock

Looks just like the same "class" as the good old "Glen Strahallen" Training Ship for King Teds ( King Edward the Seventh Nautical College London) - I believe she was scuttled as a requirement of the owner when she became redundant - engines removed first and now in science museum

Vigilant III was built in 1935 by Wm. Denny, with two 8-cyl. Sulzer diesels. New engines fitted 1971, 2-each 6-cyl Lister Blackstones.
Requisitioned by navy in 1939, as examination vessel, then accommodation vessel to Campbelltown Rescue Tug Base. Renamed Ixion; returned to Scottish Fishery Protection and resumed service in 2. 1947; renamed Vigilant II to release for new vessel; 3.1983 sold to Sheridan Trading Inc. S.A. Panama and renamed Vigilant. Not known fate

By the way the buildings in the background were those of J.&G. Kincaid, now all razed.

Aye staggered past there a few times when the FPV Brenda was home,last time i was there it was all changed Kincaid,s gone the Para Handy bar gone,Victoria bar gone!!
