Built by Gotaverken Finnboda of Stockholm, the Nordic Breeze was launched in October 1977 and run by Wallem Shipmanagement (UK Ltd) from Staines in Middlesex.

She was one of 2 vessels run by this Company, the other being the Nordic Aurora.

Pic shows the Nordic Breeze in her floating dry-dock, fitting out prior to sea trials.

She later became the Osco Ingram Osprey .. and the Nordic Aurora the Osco Tampimex Eagle.

This is not quite correct. The Nordic Breeze was sold ( sorry but I dont recall the new name) I believe she had an explosion and either sank or was scrapped. The Nordic Aurora(Tampimex Eagle) was also sold, I believe to Scandinavian owners. The Ingram Osprey was built on the Tyne in the 80s and was sold to India in 1987/88 and became the Vishwa Doot.

Hi there Richard ....

Thanks for that, I was in Rowbothams when it was rumoured that they had 'won' the management of the Ingram Osprey and was asked if I would consider joining her seeing that I knew her so well!
Obviously this was not true then, as the Ingram Osprey was a different vessel altogether.

How are things with you?
I have heard a few times from 2/E John Kerr, but many folks from the time on the Breeze seemed to have passed away!

Hi Derek,

Thanks for the reply. I cant remember if we salied together on the Breeze or the Aurora but I seem to remember you had your wife on board. I may be wrong. Time goes by and the grey matter doesnt improve. Im keeping well thanks. Still working in Hamburg (since 1988 when I came ashore). I sometimes get the impression I am the only one of my generation who is still working ! Recently attended an Old School reunion and my old school friends were all long pensioned off. I sailed on the Osprey on the maiden voyage and then as regular Master until 1987 when they announced she was to be sold so decided it was time to pack in. Im still more or less in shipping - planning shipping schedules at the Refinery and am in charge of ship vetting here. It keeps me out of mischief and pays the bills. The only one from Wallems I had contact with for a while was Nigel Westbrook who moved to a German company after the Osprey was sold but since I moved to Germany we have lost contact.
All the best - Richard

Hi Richard ... yes, we were on the Breeze together a couple of times I think, you also had your wife with you.
I think you alternated with Jo Twite (& Pamela) & Ernie Lamb as Masters.

I briefly met Nigel Westbrook, the regular mate on the Breeze was Steve Lyons who passed away a good few years ago and he was usually relieved by Ray Gott.
C/E was Dave Huddleston who I lost touch with, and the 2/E was Alan Morgan who also passed away a good few years ago now.
I believe Steve Lyons and Alans wife Angela became a couple for a while briefly after Alans death.

Apart from that I can only remember a few names ... Peter Lush was relieving 3/O I think.

Derek
