Us Grey Funnel guys heard about the strange goings on in the "Merch", for years we believed it was just rumour...................

I'm suprised at your comment Ancient brit (Us Grey Funnel guys heard about the strange goings on in the "Merch", for years we believed it was just rumour................... ) because when I was on the Grey Funnel line Vicars and Tarts parties were the norm and great fun was had by all, tongue in cheek.
Regards Brian

Sorry bout that, Brian. Maybe I should amend my posting to read- Us Grey Funnel guys, who prefer to lead, when dancing- etc......... Or - Us Grey Funnel guys who prefer to face our partner when dancing...........
As for "tongue in cheek" the only time that ever applied to me, was when some overheard sarcastic comment about the gonads of flight officers in the RN, earned me a flight in the business section of an AEW Gannet. I asked the Lt (O) sat next to me, what one did in the event of something not working correctly. He told me to look out the little round window and enjoy the trip toward the sea, just before reaching the sea, I should place my head between my legs as far as it would go, then kiss my **** Goodbye.

The guy on the left is the 3rd mate - Bob something. The one in the middle is the 4th engineer - Alan Davis I think. I think the other one might be a junior engineer. I joined Talamba at Gib in December '75, and most of this crowd were still on board, including the barman.

Right hand side looks like an ex LOF Electrician called Barry Moore - I never realised he was so attractive. Not sure if he ended up in P&O or not.

Never sailed on Talamba but the guy on the left is Bob West and would have been 3/O and yep Alan Davis in middle. Both good lads
