The Portuguese m/v Alexandre Silva, 93m/1.746gt,completed 05/05/1943 by Companhia União Fabril (AGPL Shipyard),Lisbon, for Sociedade Geral de Comércio,Indústria e Transportes, Lisbon,for its Cape Verde/Guinea Service.Some years later she was placed in the tramping and North European Service.On the 17/04/1949 she was aground at Francelos, about 4 miles south Douro mouth,due dense fog,28/07/1949 she was refloated and put into Leixões,before bound for a/m shipyard Lisbon for repairs; 1972 transferred to CNN,Lisbon, due amalg. both companies;27/11/1972 arrived Bilbao for breaking up.
