A 33,000 dwt steam turbine tanker built by Fairfield, Govan in 1960 for the Venezuelan subsidiary of Shell Tankers for service on Lake Maracaibo. She was the second of two identical ships. Her sister Shell Aramare built by same yard in 1959. Shell Naiguata was broken up in Taiwan in 1979
Shell Aramare at Cartagena.
The picture shows her heading downriver from Fairfield escorted by two Steel & Bennie tugs and passing Charles Connell's Scotstoun Yard as she heads for sea trials in the Firth of Clyde.

Have very many happy memories of watching both of them building. Thought they were great looking ships.
