This is just one of many taken at the time and which appeared in various publications and newspapers when ARDTARAIG came to Finnart in about 1969.I don/t know if it was her maiden voyage but certainly at the time she was one of the biggest to come to Finnart at about 160-170000dwt.
It was a Clyde Shipping tug job-5 I think-and another view graced their tug office in Greenock.
The Ardtaraig Estate is at the head of Loch Striven I think.

If this was taken in 1969 it could well have been on her maiden voyage. She was one of 4 almost identical sisters and I joined Ardvar to finish her building and sail on the maiden voyage from Chiba in Japan in 1970. Ardtaraig was at that time undergoing her guarantee drydocking in Yokohama so I guess she was about one year old.

All the ships were approximately 215,000 dwt.
