Being built back in 1966 and looking at her now some background since building would be interesting reading. Any offers from our band of expert researchers.

Black Prince was built by Lubecker Flendwerwerke AG and delivered in October 1966 into the joint ownership of Fred Olsen and Det Bergenske. As built she was 9,499 grt, twin screw Pielstick engines provided a speed of 22.5 knots. In the summer she was named Venus for Bergen Line and carried 185 cars, 585 berthed and 126 unberthed passengers mainly on the Kristiansand - Amsterdam - Harwich service. In the winter she was named Black Prince carried 330 passengers on a service from London to the Canary Islands, plus chilled fruit in containers on the car deck for the return voyage.
In 1986 Fred Olsen acquired Det Bergenske and the ship was sent to Wartsila for conversion into a cruise ship. Black Prince emerged in 1987 at 11,500 grt and accommodation for 572 passengers. She was registered in Manila placed in the ownership of a Fred Olsen subsidiary, Vinta Maritime.
Olsen was faced with a strike by her Phillipine crew in May 1989. So they were sacked and the ship returned to the Norwegian flag under the ownership of another subsidiary, Black Prince Management Inc.
After various refits Black Prince is now listed as 11,209 grt, 20 kts, 395 lower berth, 433 maximum passengers.

The Jupiter was renamed the Black Watch, I'm almost sure she changed back to Jupiter each summer for her run from Tyne to Bergen/ Oslo.

I worked on her for quite a while in the late 60's being the only Englishman in the crew, our weekly run was, Tyne-Stavanger-Bergen-Amsterdam-Bergen-Stavanger-Tyne, sometimes with extra calls to Stavanger.
